French 18th Century Louis XV Trumeau

French 18th Century Louis XV Trumeau

A fine, large, stunning trumeau dating back to the Louis XV period in France. Typical of the period, the trumeau has Rococo style tastefully carved accents which house the double stacked mercury glass mirrors (since glass was unable to be made in large sheets at the time) and a painting featuring a urn with flowers with birds circling about. The wonderful oil painting shows excellent talent. Most likely this trumeau was a part of a custom wall design or boiserie. 1760s
