French 19th Century Giltwood Carving
An extraordinarily detailed hand carved giltwood decorative piece from 19th century France. This incredible carving is composed of a central urn that is filled with a flowering bouquet. Two hummingbirds feed from the flowers while resting on some of the many carved acanthus leaves that are scrolling and intertwining with the billowing ribbon that radiates from the knotted bow found at the base of the urn. The gold gilt is in wonderful antique condition and has taken a patina that ages the piece without sacrificing the warmth that only gold can provide.
