Irish 19th Century Painted Pine Farmhouse Dresser
An Irish provincial pine dresser with three fixed shelves. These shelves are intended to both store and display plates and china and are equipped with grooves that are meant to keep it all in place. Out of sight storage can be found below. Two drawers with turned wood handles sit above two lockable doors that conceal a cavity equipped with a single fixed shelf. The furniture maker used the same material for both the back board as well as the two lower doors creating a uniform style and making for a balanced and aesthetically pleasing piece. c.1850s.
